The revered year-round retreat for a multi-generational household, set amongst a rocky enclave of seasonal, waterfront houses, was designed by Robert Kastelic, Kelly Buffey, and Nazia Aftab of Mazenga Constructing Group Ltd, North Port Carling, Ontario, as a one-storey, wood-clad, residence and boathouse, alongside the shores of Lake Joseph.
Impressed by its surrounding pure atmosphere’s rugged magnificence, the residence illuminates heat, magnificence, sophistication and eco-sustainability. That includes an open-concept essential cottage divided by three distinct but related communal areas, and personal bed room suites.
With every bed room sandwiched between parallel stone ridges, the designers have created a visible boundary supposed to increase the notion of house and present optimum privateness, with out compromising view.
Providing a serene oasis for it inhabitants, the Metrick Cottage and Boathouse, makes use of a mess of wooden textures, together with semi-charred fir cladding and torrified-ash which wrap its inside flooring, partitions, and ceilings.
