ALL OVER – India seal series 2-1
Anti-climatic end the game. There was a run-out appeal but it was no-ball with scores level. India take the game and bag a four-wicket win. Kohli, Rahul and Rohit struck half-centuries as India become the first team to complete a 300-plus chase in Cuttack. Kohli fell with India needing 30 but Shardul Thakur made 17 off 6 and eased the pressure on Jadeja.
Jadeja too made a valuable contribution ending with 39. The India openers made 122 to give the side a solid start but in between the hosts lost four wickets in space of nine overs to wobble a touch. Kohli guided the side forward and the lower-order provided the finishing touch.
A short ball wide and then another short ball next was hit for a six by Shardul. He then collected another boundary to left Cottrell looking for answers. India left with just seven in the last two overs.
21 needed off 18 now …
BIG WICKET! Kohli has dragged the ball back and Keemo Paul gets the all-important wicket. Jadeja now key in India’s chase as they need 30 off 23. Pressure on Shardul to stick around and guide India over the line.
Alrighty then, five overs to go and India need 38 more. Fifty-stand between Kohli and Jadeja as well. Things looking bad for West Indies unless they strike in the next over.

63 needed in the last eight overs. Kohli and Jadeja out there!
A 51-ball fifty for the Indian skipper. Much of it rests on his shoulders now.
And another one bites the dust: Dragged on! Short and wide outside off. Pant decides to have a go at it. Inside edge, only to the stumps. Gone for 7. Here’s Jadhav.West Indies clawing their way back with those bunch of wickets in quick succession.
Shreyas falls cheaply:Second setback for India in quick succession. Good low catch by Joseph in the deep. Another short ball, another victim. Keemo Paul hurries Shreyas into his pull, much like how it happened with Rahul a short while ago. A thick top-edge that’s dying on Joseph but he times his dive well to pouch it. The umpires are satisfied; need to go upstairs. Here’s Pant.
WICKET:The second half-centurion departs. Alzarri Joseph breaks the second-wicket partnership as he takes out Rahul for 73. Fiery pace and extra bounce from Joseph and Rahul is hurried into his shot. Hope completes an easy catch.
BREAKTHROUGH:At last! Holder breaks the threatening century stand with the wicket of Rohit. Length ball outside off. Rohit goes for an expansive drive, only to edge it behind to the keeper. He falls for a run-a-ball 63. Here’s Kohli amidst a huge reception
Rohit gets there too. Half-century off 52 deliveries for the Indian vice-captain.
Fifty for Rahul:Gets there off 49 balls. Rahul continues his good form. Together with Rohit, he’s laid a good platform for India’s chase. Keeping up with the run rate, matching each other shot for shot. India hardly troubled do far.
50 partnership:Rahul brings up the half-century of the opening stand. Freebie really, down the leg side from Keemo Paul. Rahul wouldn’t miss those. A four more to his tally.
India, and Rohit, on the move. It may have been a maiden over to start with but the Indian openers are among runs quickly. Rohit putting on a batting show already.. two boundaries and now this massive six. Holder being punished early.
We’re back for India’s chase. Rahul and Rohit out to open. Cottrell has the new ball.
West Indies 315 for 5
Pollard and Pooran have set a challenging target in front of India. Pollard got his half-century as well and they scored 77 in the last five overs. Saini was impressive on his debut while Jadeja kept it tight as well. It was a disappointing outing for Kuldeep as his ten overs resulted in 67 runs and he failed to pick up a wicket. Pant was sub-par as well – dropping five catches with two against Pooran.
This should be a cracking chase. Stay tuned and we’ll be back in about 30 minutes.
Wicket! Shardul gets Pooran just when he looked set for his second ODI century. Back of length slower ball and it was cut to deep point. He falls for 89 off 64 and West Indies are marching towards 300.
ICYMI – Another drop from Pant. Pooran gets another life and the India ‘keeper has dropped five catches today.
100-run stand: Pollard and Pooran have got a century stand off just 84 balls. Plenty of pressure on the India bowlers and they are continuously being hit for boundaries. Pooran is batting in 68. Can he get a century?
Dropped! Full and outside off from Shami. Pooran gets a thick outside and Pant went to the wrong side. Gets a hand to it and drops that one. West Indies 227 for 4
50 for Pooran
Consecutive fifties for the left-hander and he’s got this one off 43 balls. Just the sort of momentum West Indies needed with seven overs to go.
200 comes up for West Indies, in the 41st over.Good recovery this, courtesy Hetmyer first and now Pollard and Pooran.
India’s poor review saga continues.Toe crusher from Saini and he goes up in appeal. Kohli consults the bowler and the keeper and takes the review. But the impact is outside off. And India have lost their review yet again.
Saini at it again! He takes out the other set batsmen, Chase, as well. Superb yorker and Chase is tad late to evade it. Chase falls for 38.
Saini ends Hetmyer’s fireworks early!Maiden wicket for Saini, on debut. Short ball does the trick for him. Hetmyer instinctively pounced at it, looking to pull. But gets a thick top-edge that Kuldeep grabs safely in the deep.
Hetmyer on the move. Seatbelts, please! Two sixes already. Well, he was almost caught there but Rahul, the fielder at the ropes, fell across before he could toss the ball in the field again.
Halfway through the West Indies’ innings, and they’re still 6 short of entering triple figures.
Hope departs:Bowled him through the gate! Shami is brought back in a smart move by Kohli, and he strikes off the second ball to send back the in-form WI opener. Here’s Hetmyer. It’s a wicket maiden! The spinners have been able to bring down the WI scoring rate.
Appeal for a stumping against Chase but his foot is firmly grounded and behind the crease when the bails come off. Oh but hold on a sec.. that’s actually a drop catch!Chase got an outside edge, as replays confirm, and Pant has spilled it behind the stumps. Kuldeep the unfortunate bowler.
WICKET:At long last! Jadeja gets India the breakthrough. Flighted delivery on the middle stump, right in Lewis’s swinging arc. He doesn’t hold back, but but.. mistimes. Holes out straight to Saini at long-on, who has enough time to settle under it. And then, Roston Chase is the new batsman in.
44/0 after the first 10 overs. It’s been a cautious start for West Indies, but they haven’t spared any of the freebies. And Hope is the one leading the way.
Two cracking boundaries from Hope to get West Indies going after that watchful start. 12 off the fourth over, bowled by Shami.
Alright, the Indian team walks out. So does the WI openers Hope and Lewis. Shardul Thakur gets the new ball; Lewis to take first strike.
TOSS Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to field first, expecting dew to play a part in the second innings. Navdeep Saini makes his debut, coming in for Deepak Chahar, who has injured his back.
